# Your Plan For the Bears

What is your plan if you encounter a bear? It is afterall your choice to be in this pristine part of the world. The bears inhabit and I truly would hope that a bear would not have to die because you have decided to have a great adventure. I read avidly until I encountered the word firearm. I think being the first will be meaningless if it can't be done without killing any natural enhabitant. I wish you a safe journey and I pray that you will do no harm in your adventure and that you will come to no harm.

# Re: your plan for the bears

Dear Cathy,

Ben has great respect for the animals inhabiting the arctic and the whole expedition is centred around minimising the environmental impact on the area. A firearm is an absolute last resort if all other methods have failed, and is usually merely fired into the air as a way of scaring bears away. Ben also possesses a number of flares, among other non-violent bear deterrents, and these should be more than enough to discourage the more inquisitive locals.
